Active Content & Action
Doramectin 5 g/L. Doramectin is part of the Macrocylic Lactones group of chemicals. Doramectin works by interrupting the nervous systems of parasites, leading to paralysis and eventual death.
Use
A ready to use pour on to treat doramectin sensitive internal and external parasites in beef and dairy cattle; Including buffalo fly, sucking and biting lice, mange mites, gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, and cattle ticks.
Bovipour DT is highly effective in the treatment and control of the following species:
Gastrointestinal Roundworms (adults and fourth-stage larvae)
- Ostertagia ostertagi (including inhibited larvae) – Small brown stomach worm
- Haemonchus placei – Barber’s pole worm
- Trichostrongylus axei – Stomach hair worm
- T. colubriformis – Black scour worm
- Cooperia spp (including inhibited larvae) – Small intestinal worm
- Cooperia oncophora (including inhibited larvae)
- Bunostomum phlebotomum – Hook worm (adults only)
- Oesophagostomum radiatum – Nodule worm
- Nematodirus spathiger – Thin necked intestinal worm (adults only)
- Thelazia spp – Eye worm (adults only)
Adult and Immature Lungworm - Dictyocaulus viviparus
Sucking Lice - Linognathus vituli, Haematopinus eurysternus, Solenopotes capillatus
Biting Lice - Bovicola bovis
Buffalo Fly - Haematobia irritans exigua.
Cattle Tick - Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (Engorged female ticks that drop off for up to 3 days after treatment may lay viable eggs)
Mange Mites - Chorioptes bovis,
Period of Protection
Studies have also demonstrated the following levels of persistent protection against reinfection from important worm species:
Ostertagia ostertagi - Up to 35 days
Haemonchus placei - Up to 35 days
Trichostrongylus axei - Up to 35 days
Cooperia spp. - Up to 35 days
Cooperia oncophora - Up to 21 days
Dictyocaulus viviparus - Up to 28 days
Oesophagostomum radiatum - Up to 21 days
Bunostomum phlebotomum - Up to 21 days
Bovipour DT controls buffalo flies (Haematobia irritans exigua) for up to 14 days after treatment.
Worm parasites may develop resistance to any anthelmintic. If this is suspected contact your local veterinary practitioner or advise the manufacturer.
Restraints
Re-treatment interval: DO NOT re-treat animals for 56 days (8 weeks) after treatment.
Dosage and Administration
FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
Apply topically along the mid-line of the back in a narrow strip between the withers and tailhead. Use the dose rate, according to the weight of the animal in the weight/dose table. (Download tech sheet for the weight/dose table.)
Dose Rate:
1mL per 10 kg bodyweight. To obtain optimal benefit from the persistent-action against internal parasite, it is recommended that cattle which are set-stocked should be treated twice at eight-week intervals. By using in this way, BOVIPOUR DT will reduce the build-up of infective larvae on pasture and protect such as animals from parasitic gastro-enteritis and parasitic bronchitis by reducing pasture larval challenge.
Cattle heavier than 650Kg should be dosed at 1 mL per 10Kg. A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment either with scales or a weigh band. Dose rate to be based on heaviest cattle in each group (bulls, cows, steers, calves, etc). Do not underdose. Where there is a large variation in size within the group, draft into two or more lines based on body weight to avoid excessive overdosing.
Treatment of very young animals (less than 40 kg bodyweight) is generally not warranted.
